The School Governing Body (SGB) at the Matloding Primary School, outside Mahikeng, North West, has accused the provincial Education Department of failure to renovate the school.
It says this has exposed learners to imminent danger. The SGB’s remarks follow the collapse of a ceiling in a classroom last week, Friday.
The department had previously committed to repairing the school that caters to both primary and secondary learners.
SGB treasurer Kefilwenyane Tlhasedi says, ” I appeal to the department to act quickly to respond to this situation. With the coming heavy rains who knows what will happen? There is a possibility that the roof may collapse and injure the children.”
