The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in the North West has dismissed reports that it has recruited young people from other provinces into a learnership programme to be held at Kgora Farmers Training Centre in Ramatlabama outside Mahikeng this year.
The department says there is a recording of this effect on social media.
MEC Madoda Sambatha says that the person who circulated this false information uses propaganda to mobilise for his organisation’s support.
“Learnerships are meant for provincial based unemployed youth. It is not true and the person who is doing that knows he is lying and his lies can never be proven anywhere. He is lying because he uses propaganda to mobilise people for his organisation’s support. This is not true; it must be rejected outright as a lie. Lies have short legs and this is pure lie.”
