[File Image] Accused 1, 2 and 3, Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, and Prince Mncube in the dock at the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial in Pretoria.
Accused number two in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, Bongani Ntanzi, says eyewitness Zandile Khumalo was mistaken when she pointed him out from the dock in court.
Khumalo was one of those present when two intruders allegedly entered her parental home in Vosloorus, on Gauteng’s East Rand and shot and killed Meyiwa in 2014.
Khumalo previously told the court that Ntanzi fits the description of the tall intruder wearing a hoodie.
Ntanzi has been responding to questions from his defence counsel Sipho Ramosepele at the High Court in Pretoria.
He says he was not taken to an identity parade prior to him appearing in court.
Ramosepele: You’ve heard Zandile Khumalo standing in that dock, and pointing at you to say, this person, my blood only tells me, this is the person that was inside the house, and she did that with a straight face whilst you were standing in the dock. Regarding the evidence of Ms. Zandile Khumalo, saying that you entered the house together with this other male person, demanded cellphones, a scuffle ensued resulting in the shooting and the death of Senzo Meyiwa. What do you say about that evidence and her identifying you from the dock?
Ntanzi: I’m saying, My Lord, that she told lies about me.
