Taxi carrying passengers
The National Taxi Alliance (NTA) says commuters can expect a fare increase of around R6 per trip from Wednesday as a result of the fuel price increase.
Petrol is expected to rise by more than R5 per litre, while diesel could increase by nearly R10 per litre.
The hike, which will be implemented at midnight, has been attributed to global oil shocks linked to tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
NTA spokesperson Theo Malele says they are set to increase around R6 per passenger.
“In relation to the possible pricing structure, having done a thumb suck exercise looking at the fuel and diesel, there is a likelihood that we could be talking somewhere around R6 per passenger as an increment, this is if government does nothing about the whole situation.”
