NSRI continues search for man missing in Cosy Bay Surf

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says the search continues for a man who went missing in the surf at Cosy Bay in Cape Town.

NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says the man went missing underwater after he got into difficulty.

Lambinon says rescue workers conducted a free diving search as well as an aerial search with a drone.

“The NSRI rescue craft conducted surface water search efforts in and beyond the surf zone. NSRI shore crew and City of Cape Town lifeguards searched the shoreline. Police divers (WPDS – Water Policing and Diving Services) attended at the scene where items, appearing to be personal items that may belong to the missing man, were taken into the possession of the police.”

“Despite the extensive air, sea and shoreline search, there remains no sign of the missing man. Police divers and Police Sea Borderline Control will continue in ongoing search efforts,” adds Lambinon.
