The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo has welcomed the Polokwane High Court’s judgment that dismissed the urgent application by artist, Lehlohonolo Chauke popularly known as Shebe Maburna to appeal his bail denial.
Maburna was denied bail by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court last month.
He is facing multiple charges, including three of attempted murder.
Acting Judge Natalie Burnett said that although Maburna is a musician with many fans, there are no exceptional evidence for him to be released on bail.
Limpopo NPA spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi welcomes the dismissal.
“We welcome the dismissal of bail appeal regarding the matter of Shebe Maburna because even in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court, we were opposing bail, as he’s facing more than eight charges and on those counts, we are have three counts of attempted murder, even when it comes to the high court, we are still welcoming that it has been dismissed,” says Malabi.
