NPA requests records of all previous dockets against Brown Mogotsi

The The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the North West has requested all police dockets be sent to them that are related to previous charges against local businessman, Brown Mogotsi. This follows Mogotsi’s recent appearance before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating his alleged role as a fixer with possible links to law enforcement and political figures.

Mogotsi admitted that several charges have been laid against him, including murder.

Police reports indicate that Mogotsi allegedly got into a fight with Butinyane Mothusi in Seweding in December 2011. An injured Mothusi was rushed to Montshioa Stadt Clinic where he was declared dead.

The NPA says they are still studying the docket.

Provincial Police Spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, says following the incident Mogotsi appeared several times in the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court.

“The suspect, Brown Mogotsi, who was 32 at the time of this incident … his first court appearance for the alleged murder was the 19th of December 2011. After extensive investigations and numerous court appearances, the case was then withdrawn by NPA on the 13th of October of 2022,” says Myburg.
