Suspended Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Deputy Mayor Gary Van Niekerk.
The NPA in the Eastern Cape is still confident that it has a case against Deputy Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, Gary Van Niekerk. Van Niekerk made another appearance in the Gqeberha Commercial Crimes’ Court where he faces two counts related to cybercrime and two for allegedly contravening the Municipal Finance Management Act. Regional NPA Spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali says has confidence in the state’s case against Van Niekerk.

“The accused person is within his rights to right representations to the DPP, who has to consider such recommendations, but it is still our belief that he has a case to answer, however he will be considering his representations and then take the matter forward from there” Tyali said.
