North West tourism entrepreneurs lament struggle to attract visitors

Some entrepreneurs within the tourism sector in the North West Province say attracting more tourists to attraction sites has become a mammoth task.

The province has officially launched tourism month, anticipating travellers across the country and foreign tourists to direct their spring and summer excursions to the Province.

Thuso Monnagaratoe is the founder of Lovisto Tours.

“We, as entrepreneurs within the tourism industry are facing difficult challenges whereby we’re intending on growing the tourism industry and the foot traffic of tourists within our province but the challenge is that the government is not coming to the party to assist us by creating a conducive environment that will enable us to grow tourism in the North West Province.”

Monnagaratoe has called on the government to resuscitate local tourist attraction sites and fix roads leading to them.

“If the government can help us by resuscitating tourism sections within the province, help by rebranding tourist attractions and working together with relevant departments and municipalities to create trafficable roads to different types of attractions with good signage that will attract tourists.”
