McLaren’s Norris holds off Verstappen to win wet Australian Grand Prix
McLaren’s Lando Norris has won the opening Formula One Grand Prix of the 2025 season, triumphing at a chaotic Australian Grand Prix.
The Briton converted his pole position to victory, while teammate Oscar Piastri missed out on a strong result at home following late-race drama. Reigning champion Max Verstappen secured second place for Red Bull as the Dutchman got his latest title defence off to a strong start.
The final place on the podium went to George Russell of Mercedes, who enjoyed a strong opening round to the campaign. The safety car was deployed three times on a day of mixed conditions, while six drivers crashed and were forced to retire.
