Two of the four top officials from the Nongoma Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal charged with corruption have been granted bail of R5,000 each by the Nongoma Regional Court.
They are the Deputy Mayor Sabelo Nkosi and Speaker Babongile Sithole.
A third accused, a businessman and Director of Mjinti Trading Vukani Gumede has also been granted bail.
Mayor Clifford Ndabandaba, the CFO Njabulo Dludla and a second businesman Khulekani Manqele, who is the supply chain manager and Director of Macisha Holding, have been remanded in custody.
Their bail application is to be heard on 4 December. The state has indicated that it intends to oppose bail for the three.
Another suspect who was arrested on Thursday has made his first appearance.
