No response yet on Batohi application to amend Nkabinde Enquiry terms

The Nkabinde Enquiry says the Justice Department has not yet responded to National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Shamila Batohi’s application for the amendment of the enquiry’s terms of reference.

She made a similar application to the enquiry whose panel has since rejected it. The enquiry will continue to investigate suspended South Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions advocate Andrew Chauke’s fitness to hold office.

Advocate Batohi abandoned the proceedings after the enquiry’s panel reprimanded her for speaking to a potential witness.

The enquiry’s spokesperson, Tiyisela Mpuzana says, “One that was made through the Minister of Justice is still subject to consideration. The important thing to note is that the NDPP remains a witness under oath before the enquiry. She only excused herself pending legal counsel. I cannot determine when she is going to approach the panel again to proceed with the testimony.”
