Lead investigating officer in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, Brigadier Bongani Gininda says although he believes all the accused were paid by Kelly Khumalo to kill the former Bafana Bafana captain – there is no electronic money trail.

Meyiwa was shot dead while at Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand in 2014.

Five men are on trial at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria for the murder.

In response to questions by defence lawyer, advocate Zithulele Nxumalo, Gininda says he believes all the accused were paid in cash.

Nxumalo: “Is there any chain of money from Miss Kelly Khumalo to the accused?”

Gininda: “No, not electronically My Lord. There is no electronic evidence, in other words … money being transferred from her bank accounts to the accused.”

Nxumalo: “From the bank records that you received from the respective banks, there was no evidence to suggest that payment from Miss Kelly Khumalo to the respective accounts?”

Gininda: “Yes I agree My Lord but there was also no such assertion as I’m saying the payments that we are aware of where made in cash.”
