The High Court in Pretoria has again heard that there were no bank transactions made by Kelly Khumalo to all of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

Lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda who returned to the stand in cross-examination, however, reiterated that there were monies exchanged between the accused.

Gininda also still insists that Meyiwa’s murder was a contractual killing ordered by Kelly Khumalo.

Brigadier Gininda reiterates that while there was communication between Kelly Khumalo and accused number 5, Fisokuhle Ntuli on 2 August and 15 October 2014, there was no proof of any bank transactions during that time.

Advocate Zandile Mshololo asks: “So, in relation to this case in any of these exhibits there was no money paid from Ms Kelly Khumalo to accused 5?”

Brigadier Gininda responds: “Yes, that’s true, but from our investigations is that cash payments were made from accused 5 to accused 2. We don’t have any information that the money was transferred from Miss Kelly Khumalo.”

The court has previously heard that in the confession statement of accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi he received R45 000 for his role in the murder and accused number one, Muzi Sibiya was paid R30 000.

Gininda also still maintains that Meyiwa’s killing was a hit.

Mshololo: “You also referred to a contractual killing what did you mean?”

Gininda: “I mean it was an assassination, there was a conspiracy to have him killed. You find the reward was the payment of monies.”

Mshololo: “You say there was an instruction from who?”

Gininda: “Ms Kelly Khumalo.”

Mshololo: “Is there any information relating to how the instruction was given?”

Gininda: “You find it in the confessions, accused 1 indicates the killing was because of Ms Kelly Khumalo and also accused 2 confessions.”

Mshololo: “Despite those two confessions is there any other independent information?”

Gininda: “What we have is corroborating evidence, Zungu’s statement, Gwabeni, the announcement of the killing and Buthelezi implicating accused 3 and 4. So, this is independent of the confessions. All this creates the impression of a contractual killing.”

Advocate Charles Mnisi will continue cross-examining Gininda on behalf of accused number 3, Mthobisi Mncube.
