No arrests in Table Mountain robbery, stabbing incident


Police in Cape Town say no arrests have been made in connection with a robbery and stabbing incident on the slopes of Signal Hill in the Table Mountain National Park.

Western Cape Police Spokesperson FC Van Wyk says the incident occurred when a female visitor was walking with her dog near the big rocks.

Van Wyk says an unidentified male, armed with a knife, demanded the woman’s cellphone and stabbed her during the attack.

The dog bit the suspect but was also stabbed and later died from its injuries.

The suspect fled the scene.

Van Wyk says the woman sustained a stab wound to her left arm and is receiving medical attention.

The South African National Parks is urging visitors to avoid the slopes of Signal Hill

Police investigations are ongoing.
