Sergeant Fannie Nkosi testifying before the Commission
Member of the Gauteng Organised Crime unit, Sergeant Fannie Nkosi, has been questioned about Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s relationship with suspended deputy national police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.
Nkosi has told evidence leader Adv Matthew Chaskalson that Lieutenant-General Sibiya is fond of the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner.
This is despite evidence presented before the Commission suggesting that both Generals Mkhwanazi and Sibiya do not get along.
Nkosi insists that Sibiya likes Mkhwanazi because Sibiya tried to improve relations with him.
“I’m not defending General Sibiya on whether he likes General Mkhwanazi or not. I’m saying this because General Sabiya once called me to his office to go to General Mkhwanazi and try to make peace between them because they were not getting along in the line of work at that particular time. So, to me, if General Sibiya did not like Mkhwanazi, he would not have taken that effort. That is my answer. That’s why I’m saying he likes him.”
