Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr Nobuhle Nkabane
The Presidency says Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane must account for her conduct in Parliament last week to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
She appeared before the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education to explain her Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) Board appointments which had drawn a lot of criticism.
The appointments were later reversed.
Dr Nkabane came under fire for her conduct which some labelled as rude.
Currently responding to questions from members of the Portfolio Committee. I’ve provided clarity on the decision to withdraw the SETAs Chairpersons’ appointments. I’ve committed to sharing the vetting report and master list, subject to the provisions of the POPIA Act. pic.twitter.com/1vCbPPAOWx

Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says Ramaphosa expects ministers, deputy ministers and government officials to conduct themselves professionally.
Magwenya says the President has requested that the minister provide him with a detailed report on the decorum and substance of her engagement with Parliament.
“In this regard, the President will also appreciate a report on the process undertaken to appoint the Board members to the SETA, the Sector Education and Training Authorities, that were at the centre of the Portfolio Committee’s question. The request for the report is in view of the President’s expectation that ministers, deputy ministers and senior executives in the public sector conduct themselves professionally, transparently and cordially in engaging with Parliament and other accountability structures,’ adds Magwenya.
