The Newclare community in Johannesburg says it will continue to support the child seen on a video being instructed to smoke a substance believed to be drugs.
The four-year-old’s mother and three others appeared in the Johannesburg Regional Court on Thursday on charges of child abuse and attempted murder.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department said the accused allegedly confessed to using mandrax and admitted to filming the incident during their arrest last week.
The Newclare community was in court to support the four-year-old boy and his family.
Community members say that they are shattered and all they want is justice to be served for the child. They want all Newclare community to come out in numbers to support the child.
Their case has been postponed to August 18 for a formal bail application.
