A new state witness is expected to be called when the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumes in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday. This, after defence counsel Charles Mnisi’s cross-examination of lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda was paused.

Five men are on trial for gunning down Meyiwa in Vosloorus in eastern Johannesburg in October 2014.

Mnisi indicated on Friday that he would not be able to continue with Gininda without the car tracker information of all the vehicles used by police officers who were involved in the arrest of accused number 1, Muzi Sibiya.

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng ordered that this information be made available.

Advocate Mnisi has also indicated that he wants Constable Sizwe Zungu, the state’s star witness who placed all of the accused in Vosloorus on the day of the murder, back on the stand.
