New evidence prompts accused drug lords to apply for bail in Limpopo

Five accused drug lords have appeared in the Groblersdal magistrate’s court in Limpopo. The five accused made a brief appearance.

The accused had their case postponed to Friday next week for bail application.

Frederick Botha and Simphiwe Khumalo want to apply for bail based on new evidence.

Their three Mexican accomplices, Ruben Vidal Rodriguez, Gutierrez Lopez Alejandro and Gonzalez Jorge Partida, were arrested in July following a bust at an illegal drug manufacturing laboratory on a farm.

The farm belongs to Botha. Drugs worth over R2 billion were discovered.

The matter has been postponed to allow Botha and Khumalo to make bail applications based on new facts. During their previous appearance, Botha and Khumalo were denied bail as the court ruled that they were a flight risk.

They’re all facing the charges of manufacturing and dealing in drugs. The accused have been in custody since their arrest in July this year.
