New evidence may link top politicians to Bozwana murder: Family

The family of the slain Northwest businessman Wandile Bozwana say they believe new evidence will lead to the arrest of top politicians who allegedly ordered his hit.

They opened another case of conspiracy to commit murder against an ANC top national politician and two other men earlier this week. They had earlier opened a case against two senior politicians in the province.

The family alleges that the politicians played a critical role in securing the services of hitmen to kill Bozwana. Vusi Mathibela and three others have been sentenced to 48 years’ imprisonment each for Bozwana’s murder in 2015.

But his family believes that the masterminds are still walking free.

The family’s spokesperson, Thabang Kotsedi, says, “With whatever that was going on in the police’s previous years, it was not the right time for the cases to be opened. But now, with the information that was gathered from all the years till now, we think that right now, the cases will be investigated and the right people will be arrested.”

Kotsedi claims that evidence they provided to the police links the politicians to the hitmen prosecuted for Bozwana’s assassination.

“I’ve got evidence, and also the evidence is also included in the docket that is being opened today – to say that this particular individual was in talks with this person. Also on those days, they managed to see that the hitmen were also present on the eve that Bozwana was to be killed. Let me say he was killed on a Friday; on Thursday there was a meeting held at the Saxon Hotel.”
