The Democratic Alliance (DA) newly announced Mangaung Metro mayoral candidate, Werner Pretorius, says he is ready to fix the city.
Pretorius says the task ahead is huge and requires them to be fully aware of the state of affairs in the metro.
The announcement comes as the party gears itself for its campaign trail ahead of the local government elections later this year.
Pretorius was also recently elected the provincial chairperson of the party.
He says the city needs a good turnaround strategy and the DA is poised to improve the lives of Mangaung residents.
“To the voters, we must be very, very clear about the current state of affairs in Mangaung. We must paint the true picture of this municipality as much as we love it, we have to be clear about the massive task that we face. The Mangaung Metro is the worst run metropolitan municipality in the Republic of South Africa…it is highly unfortunate that our beloved Mangaung has been run into disarray. It is a textbook case of a failed metropolitan municipality.”
