Netherlands record first win at ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

The Netherlands have recorded their first win at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup.

The Dutch beat Namibia by seven wickets in their Group A match in New Delhi on Tuesday morning.

The Netherlands, who won the toss, restricted Namibia to 156 for the loss of eight wickets.

Only four batters reached double figures, with a highest score of 42 from Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton.

New Zealand-born Logan van Beek was the Netherlands’ best bowler and finished with figures of two for 13 from three overs.

26-six-year-old Bas de Leede, who made his debut for the Dutch seven years ago, then smashed an unbeaten 72 off 48 deliveries as they reached their target with 12 balls to spare.

The win lifts the Netherlands to two points from two matches and into the top three in Group A.
