Ndou slams politicians who accept posts after misconduct charges

Political analyst, Levy Ndou has criticised politicians who continue to accept positions after being implicated in misconduct.

His remarks come after ANC MP Malusi Gigaba stepped aside from his duties yesterday after being charged with corruption.

The charges relate to a multi-billion-rand Transnet tender for locomotives during his tenure as the public enterprises minister.

Ndou says aside from Gigaba, there are many other ANC members who have been implicated in wrong doing and continue to hold their positions.

He says this clearly displays a lack of integrity and discipline amongst politicians.

“It is unfortunate that such people could be having the view that nothing could be found against them and then want to hold onto positions because they’ve been elected at a conference. That’s why I said that if you know that you have done something wrong, why do you wait for the NPA to charge you?”

Ndou adds, “Maybe, you could be taking advantage of the fact that the NPA could take longer and you can stay in office until your term of office expires. People who have done wrong things should not only step aside, but resign.”
