Ndimande brothers in SA custody after extradition from eSwatini

Guarded by heavily armed police special task force members, the two suspected AKA hitmen have arrived at Durban’s King Shaka International Airport on Tuesday following their extradition from the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Malusi and Siyabonga Ndimande arrived by charter plane from Maseru where eSwatini authorities surrendered them to Interpol in terms of an extradition order.

The two brothers have been led to an office in leg irons where they are being formally charged in connection with the 2023 murder in Durban of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane in Durban.

Police say that one of the suspects is believed to have pulled the trigger which killed AKA.

Court appearance

The pair is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court, where they will face 27 charges, including murder and attempted murder.

National Police Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirms that the brothers are allegedly linked to three separate cases involving violent crimes.

Mathe also reveals that the suspects were received by a high risk tactical team upon landing in KwaZulu-Natal and were immediately placed under arrest.

The Ndimande brothers were apprehended in Eswatini last year, prompting South African authorities to file a formal extradition request. That application was granted by the Eswatini courts, paving the way for today’s handover and court proceedings.
