NCC recalls over 18 000 KIA as well as Jeep wrangler vehicles

About 323 Jeep Wrangler vehicles and 18 600 Kia model vehicles are being recalled.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued an urgent recall notice for the Jeep Wrangler that was sold in 2016 and discontinued in 2018, due to airbag failures and the Kia’s brake malfunctions drive which were sold between 2009 and 2015.

The NCC’s spokesperson Phetho Ntaba has urged the drivers of the affected vehicles to ensure they take their vehicles for a check to minimize the risk of potential accidents.

“We request drivers of Kia Sportage SL and KM, Kia Sorento XM, Kia Optima TF, Cerato TD, as well as Kia Soul AM to immediately contact their Kia-approved dealership to ensure their vehicles are checked. According to the manufacturer, they have discovered that the ABS fuse requires replacement.

On the other hand the Stellantis South Africa informed NCC that they are recalling Jeep Wrangler vehicles. According to the supplier, the dust inside the clock spring could compromise airbag circuits.”
