Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul announces new Members of the Executive Council
Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul has expanded his Cabinet to nine portfolios after the appointment of two more Members of the Executive Council (MEC).
Mangaliso Matika has been appointed as Sport, Arts and Culture MEC and Limakatso Koloi is now MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison.
The two have been sworn in.
Saul has reneged on his commitment to downsizing his cabinet and keeping it to seven MECs.
Saul says he took the decision to add two members to the executive council after careful consideration and extensive consultation.
“It is my view that appointing these two members will help to strengthen the capacity of the provincial government. I have appointed Mr Mangaliso Matika to serve as the MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture and Ms Dimakatso Koloi to serve as the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison.”
