Deputy President Paul Mashatile in the NCOP in Cape Town.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile says the envisaged National Dialogue will address various issues of concern such as crime, poverty, gender-based violence and inequality, that may have an impact on social cohesion.
Mashatile was taking part in an oral question and answer session in the National Council of Provinces.
He was asked whether, in the light of the 2024 SA Social Cohesion Index research report, if government is considering implementing measures to ensure that social cohesion is not affected by attacks on the country’s transformation agenda.

Mashatile says various issues will be addressed during the yet to be announced National Dialogue.
Mashatile states that this will be a government driven programme.
“It’s a programme that will include everybody, civil society, government, sporting bodies, churches, traditional leaders, bring everybody on board, so we can reimagine a kind of South Africa that we all want that we can build together.”
