Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Annelie Lotriet says she will report Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) MPs for contempt of the House during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s question session.

Several EFF MPs continued to raise points of order.

They also demanded that the security personnel for both Ramaphosa and his Deputy Paul Mashatile not be present inside the chamber.

Lotriet says she will refer the matter to the Speaker of the National Assembly Thoko Didiza for further action to be taken against the EFF MPs.

“Honorable members I will indeed refer this matter to the Speaker for referral to the powers and privileges for every member who in contempt of the rules of this house. The procedures of this house and the respect for the presiding officers. I will also refer it in terms of rule 69 which is very specific which the powers and privileges act refers to.”
