My father was my hero, my inspiration: DJ Warras’s son

Mourners were moved when the late slain media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock’s son paid tribute to him.

His eldest son Ethan told mourners during his memorial service in Sandton, north of Johannesburg on Friday, that they will ensure that his legacy continues.

Ethan described his late father as his hero, rock and foundation.

“My father always did everything in his power to make sure me and my family were okay. He stood for what is right and is a true definition of a courageous and resilient man. Whenever we needed guidance and whenever we needed advice, he was always there cause he was the wisest in the family.”

He adds, “My father was my hero, he’s the person I look up to, he’s my inspiration. He was my rock and foundation. My dad’s legacy will live through me and my little brothers and I will do everything in my power to make him proud.”

BIG PERSONALITY

Dichaba Phalatsi from the SABC’s Live AMP entertainment show says DJ Warras had a big personality.

Phalatsi says, “I’m from SABC the channel and I’m one of the people that got him on Live Amp and the reason why we got Warrick on Live Amp was his outspoken and big personality in contrast to his height, and I just want to say Warras was actually the one who made Live Amp cool, Warras made the show.”

Media personality Sizwe Dlomo related his friendship with the late podcaster.

He says, “Warrick would even associate with individuals I wouldn’t dare stand alongside but that was the true character of the man in that he got along with all types and he liked to bring people together. Warrick helped a lot of people without seeking personal glory.”

DJ Warras’ funeral is expected to be held next Tuesday and the cremation will be on Wednesday in Johannesburg.
