Muzi Sibiya cross-examination continues in Meyiwa murder trial

The State in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial is expected to continue probing accused number one, Muzi Sibiya, on his evidence in chief when the case resumes at the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday morning.

Five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of Meyiwa, who was shot dead in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg.

The state’s key witness, Constable Sizwe Zungu, has placed all five accused in Vosloorus on the day the Bafana Bafana captain was murdered.

Sibiya has denied knowing Zungu then and that he had no relationship with him.

Yesterday, State prosecutor George Baloyi pulled out phone records showing there was communication between Sibiya and Zungu.

Baloyi: “Now the cellphone records indicated that from the period 4 September 2019 up to 21 September 2019, the date number that you just placed on the report made contact with the tower 3G Wesleton in Mpumalanga.”

Sibiya: “I have never made a contact nor a cellphone call with Zungu, nor a person who was being referred to as Zungu. I stayed in Mpumalanga before.”
