Benches inside of a court.
The Mutale Magistrate’s Court outside Thohoyandou has postponed a case of murder and two attempted murders against a man who allegedly shot dead a complainant in a rape case.
Andani Madzhie allegedly shot and killed Ndinainwi Mabuke and injured a taxi driver and another passenger last month at Thengwe village.
Mabuke was allegedly raped by a self-proclaimed prophet, Phathutshedzo Sikhubu. Sikhubu is currently in police custody for another rape case; he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl.
Madzhie is also in custody after he abandoned his bail application.
Mabuke’s father, Abram Mabuke, says the family is optimistic that more arrests will be made.
“The prosecutor stood up and told the court he is requesting that this case be postponed to the 6th of February 2026 for further investigation, as agreed with the lawyer representing the accused, so the magistrate pronounced that. As the family, we are happy with the way how court is handling this case, and this case is still going to arrest more people.”
