The G20 Social Summit taking place in Boksburg.
Musicians participating at the G20 Social Summit at Birchwood in Boksburg are excited to be a part of the G20 Social Summit as it is important platform for the world to come to the country. They echo that the Social Summit shows the importance of raising issues affecting South Africans.
Issues affecting children, women, the youth and people living with disabilities were deliberated on by civil society and organisations at the Summit.
Actress and singer Khanyo Maphumulo, who was a original cast member in the musical stage play and film Sarafina, performed in front of delegates that included civil oragnisations and members of government songs such as the Lord’s prayer and Freedom from Sarafina.
The performer says that as the Sarafina cast they can train people to sing and dance in efforts to upskill and create opportunities.
Maphumulo says, “G20 means a lot because other countries are coming to South Africa is a beautiful thing. I just hope there will be more work for the youth and more work for our people. Let’s create work. We are here as Sarafina cast members, we can train people to dance and sing.”

Gospel powerhouse Lebo Sekgobela, who performed after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s keynote address, says the G20 is important because it fosters inclusivity, sustainability and equity.
“The G20 is important because of inclusivity, sustainability and equity. I would say women matter, children matter, wellness and the economy of this country matters.”

The G20 Leaders meeting takes place in Nasrec from Friday until Sunday under the theme, Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.
