Multiple fatalities and injuries in two Hoedspruit vehicle accidents

Three people have been killed and 63 hurt in two separate vehicle crashes near Hoedspruit in Limpopo.

Transport Department spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene says the first crash claimed one passenger and injured 23 people.

Chuene says the driver of the light delivery vehicle allegedly lost control and the car overturned.

The second crash, according to Chuene, left two people dead and 40 injured. She says it is alleged that the driver attempted to overtake and collided with a tractor.

Chuene says the survivors of the crashes are being treated in hospital.

“The first accident happened next to Kampersrus village where the driver of a Hyundai light delivery van lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn resulting in one fatality and 23 injured. The second accident is next to Marepe Lodge. The driver of the Isuzu heavy motor vehicle was overtaking and collided with a New Holland tractor both vehicles are reported to have been transporting workers. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of this accident,” Chuene says.
