Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu has instituted an investigation into the provincial Education Department’s procurement of 22 laptops valued at over R2 million.
Ndlovu says he has noted public interest in the matter and, therefore, transparency will be applied in dealing with the investigation and its outcome.
The probe is set to be finalised next week.
Meanwhile, the African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga has welcomed the investigation.
The party’s Provincial Secretary, Muzi Chirwa, says they are confident that the investigation will be concluded soon and the outcome made public. Chirwa says the ANC demands that all deployees and public servants respect the public purse.
