Mpofu questions Trent over charges against Zuma-Sambudla

State witness, Sara-Jane Trent, an admitted attorney and a former employee of forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan, who laid a criminal charge against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla in 2021, is continuing her testimony in the Durban High Court.

On Tuesday, Defence Advocate Dali Mpofu, during cross-examination, argued that Trent was pushing a political agenda against his client; Trent denied the claim.

Advocate Mpofu’s argument is that she was part of a political campaign led by O’Sullivan against former President Jacob Zuma.

She told the court she laid a criminal charge because of videos and posts that Zuma-Sambudla posted on X, which she says were inciting violence and caused public panic.

Mpofu has now turned his attention to the charges, questioning Trent on the criminal charges she laid.

Trent told the court she opened up a criminal case against Zuma-Sambudla with incitement to commit public violence and malicious damage to property.

Zuma-Sambudla has pleaded not guilty to one count of incitement to commit the offence of terrorism and two counts of incitement to commit public violence during the 2021 July Unrest.
