Roadblock
Some motorists making their way into the Eastern Cape via the N6 from different provinces say other drivers need to be vigilant and considerate.
Provincial authorities conducted a roadblock just outside of Komani as part of its safety campaign.
A minibus taxi driver who was travelling from Johannesburg, Mphangeli Moyeni says his journey was safe thus far, “I travelled well from Johannesburg with no hurdles, God guided us on the road. What really helped us is that we obeyed the rules of the road and were considerate to other motorists, so that we can arrive safely at our different homes. My message to other drivers is that they must obey the rules and drive straight behind the other driver, so that we can all be safe and not die on the road.
Nozuko Maphosa is travelling to the Eastern Cape from Gauteng. She says they tolerate roadblocks because it makes the road safer.
“These roadblocks are really delaying us because we just want to get home. We have been in the taxi for a long time but we are also grateful for the roadblocks, because they are ensuring we are safe on the road.”
