The case against a 32-year-old woman, accused of selling her two-year-old son has been postponed to Friday for a bail application, in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate Court, in Gauteng.
The mother faces charges of human trafficking, conspiracy to commit robbery, and making a false statement to the police.
It’s believed that earlier this month the accused allegedly sold her son to unidentified individuals and later opened a case of kidnapping.
She was arrested last week Tuesday and has since remained in custody.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says the whereabouts of the child remain unknown and police efforts to locate him are ongoing.
“The investigations by the police revealed that the kidnapping claim was false. She was arrested on 19 November and has been in custody since the whereabouts of the child are still unknown. The case was postponed to 29 November for a possible bail application. The state intends to oppose her release on bail.”
