Johannesburg executive mayor Dada Morero says they will move with speed to rectify all service delivery issues as requested by the president.

This followed engagements with President Cyril Ramaphosa, businesses and other role players in Johannesburg. Ramaphosa raised concerns about the state of decay of the city.

He told delegates that the city of Johannesburg is torn apart and needs to be fixed urgently.

Morero says they are already making plans and seeking the necessary support to get the city back on track.

“So, we would like to bring the district development model in Johannesburg as part of the intervention to deal with the challenges the city of Joburg is faced with. We are able to pull resources of the three spheres of government including the private sector.

The private sector was also part of the engagement, pledging their support and their willingness to get Johannesburg to work. So, we are indeed on that model and we are ready to work. There are work streams that they have to define in the next few days so that we can start putting on all the work streams so that we can start working.
