Morero not deterred by DA’s planned no confidence motion

Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says he is not afraid of the planned motion of no confidence against him by the Democratic Alliance (DA), as it is motivated by what he claims is fear of progress.

This follows his establishment of the City’s Bomb Squad last week.

The unit comprises of individuals with different skills, tasked with guiding the City from the current decay to world class status in the next two years.

At the heart of the DA’s dissatisfaction is what it believes is the unlawfulness of the establishment of the unit.

However, Morero says he’s not fazed by this as his administration is turning the tide on the challenges the City faces.

“I think they’re more afraid that we are doing something, and we are going to turn around the City. Our budget is fully funded, so they have realised that too, it’s one of the biggest budgets ever, celebrated, and the world is believing in us, that yes, we can do something and turn this thing around.”
