Illegal miners arrested during Operation Vala Umgodi.
Limpopo police have arrested more than 600 suspects, including illegal miners, in various parts of the province.
The suspects were arrested last month during Operation Vala Umgodi.
Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng says they’ve also confiscated illegal firearms and mining equipment.
“The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has applauded members of Operation Vala Umgodi for ensuring that 669 suspects were arrested within the month of December.”
Seven firearms, nine vehicles, 38 live ammunition and three magazines were seized.
Nine foreign nationals were deported for serious crimes including mining illegally and the possession of unlicenced firearms.
