More families to identify Limpopo bus crash victims


Some family members of the people who died in a bus crash that claimed 43 lives in Limpopo have arrived at Makhado Police Station in Louis Trichardt. They will begin the process to identify the deceased.

The bus crashed after the driver lost control in the Tshambudzi valley on the N1, near Louis Trichardt, on Sunday.

The bus was travelling from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape to Malawi.

As part the process, the police show photos of those in hospital and of those who died to families for them to know the state of their loved ones.

The families who have arrived at the police station have refused to talk to media. 17 of the 43 bodies were identified on Tuesday.

Pathologists are expected to conclude their post-mortem examinations today.

Meanwhile, Limpopo Department of Health says 17 survivors are still being treated in hospital.
