ANC Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, speaking during an event.
African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says that he won’t respond to North-West businessman and alleged Senzo Mchunu associate, Brown Mogotsi after Mogotsi reached out to him.
Mbalula was speaking at a media briefing at the Birchwood Hotel in Ekurhuleni, where the ANC is holding its special NEC meeting.
The Madlanga Commission has heard allegations that Mogotsi used his ties with the ANC to solicit money from members linked to a criminal cartel.
Mbalula says Mogotsi is not a member of the ANC as his membership has expired.
“He even sent me a message here. He sent me a message. I don’t know where does he get my number. I don’t care. I won’t respond to him. He’s not a member of the ANC. He’s not. To answer your question, Brown Mogotsi is not a member of the ANC. It took me time to go to the records. I went to the branch, even the province. He’s not a member of the ANC. He’s just going up and down, perambulating among leaders (in) his proximity.”
Meanwhile, ANC Treasurer General, Gwen Ramokgopa, will address the party’s position on KwaZulu-Natal marketing firm, Ezulwini Investments after a letter went viral on X regarding the ANC’s alleged R85m debt to Ezulwini Investment for the party’s 2019 election campaign.
Both parties had initially reached an out of court settlement in 2023.
ANC Spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhungu-Motsiri, was speaking at the party’s NEC meeting in Ekurhuleni.
“We’re not one of those organisations that have got a stash of money coming from elsewhere, including from abroad. On the matter of Ezulwini, as you know, we came back … we’ve always been constant in briefing members of the media about this. When we reached an out-of-court settlement, we did report on that,” says Bhungu-Motsiri.
Bhungu-Motsiri says in light of the letter, the Treasurer General is going to offer a formal reaction in the course of the day.
“I can say that we continue to do the work and there is no chance that the ANC is going to fold,” shew adds.
