Mogotsi seeks extension to respond to Madlanga Inquiry allegations

Brown Mogotsi, an alleged associate of Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, has written to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria, requesting more time to respond to the allegations made against him.

The commission is probing alleged criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system. This comes as the five-day deadline looms on the notice he was served with last week, informing him of the allegations he was implicated in and the right to be heard.

In his request to the inquiry, seen by SABC News, Mogotsi acknowledges receipt of the Rule 3 Notice and informs the commission that he would like to acquire legal representation, which will only be available to consult with him on Friday.

Mogotsi, who says it would be necessary for him to appear in person, seeks the extension to provide a response in writing, together with an application to appear before the probe.
