Mogotsi maintains that he was a Crime Intelligence Agent

North West businessman Brown Mogotsi at Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee

North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has repeated that he has been a Crime Intelligence Agent (CIA).

He is appearing before Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee probing allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.

Mogotsi initially preferred to appear virtually, citing safety concerns, but has, however, ultimately decided to appear voluntarily.

He has been placed on the committee’s programme for one day.

Mogotsi explained why he thinks his work as a CIA has been disputed by those in the South African Police Service (SAPS) division.

He says, “I know the Colonel who wrote that affidavit…he only became the acting head of the agents programme in 2004. He was part of the admin, definitely he won’t know me. There are several agents you can ask him, he won’t know them.”

Mogotsi says he does not have any formal qualifications.
