Modimolle-Mookgophong Mayor Aaron Sebolai’s removal is flawed: DA

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality in Limpopo has described the removal of the Mayor, Aaron Sebolai, as flawed.

Sebolai, who is an African National Congress (ANC) councillor, has been removed following a council sitting.

The council has found him guilty of failing to implement its resolution regarding the appointment of a municipal manager, interfering with administrative work and ordering the writing-off of his municipal debts.

The ANC, EFF and FF Plus are yet to comment.

DA political head for Modimolle-Mookgophong Desiree van der Walt says, “The Democratic Alliance in Modimolle-Mookgophong is greatly concerned about the consequences of the flawed dismissal of the mayor, however, during the council sitting, the recommendations of the ethics committee were not properly followed and the ANC, FF Plus and the EFF agreed that the mayor be removed immediately. The DA, however, objected to this as correct procedures legally were not followed at all.”
