The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is pushing ahead with its attempts to oust Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli.
The party says it’s confident that Monday’s motion of no-confidence against Ntuli will garner enough support to succeed.
Political analyst Bhekisisa Mncube says the MKP’s move to oust Ntuli stems from the party’s failure to rule KZN after the 2024 general elections.
He adds that MKP has an issue of a non-existent internal democracy, changing Chief Whip’s around three times.
Mncube says, ” Imagine if KwaZulu-Natal had a premier from the MK, we could have one premier every month.”
He adds that KZN has fared much better under the leadership of the IFP with the support of the ANC and the DA.
Meanwhile, while visiting the site of the Verulam Temple collapse, Ntuli commented on the planned motion against him.
He said, “When the GPU was formed the MKP and EFF were on the left and that still remains. There were talks that the GPU will not finish three months, after three months it was six months, so it’s a motion now. It becomes clear that the issue is not failure of government to do the work.”
