uMkhonto we Sizwe Party has tabled a motion of no-confidence against Premier against Thami Ntuli.
Political analyst, Thobani Zikalala, says the uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party is within its rights to try and test the stability of the Government of Provincial Unity in KwaZulu-Natal.
Zikalala’s comments come ahead of the vote of no confidence motion that the party has brought against Premier Thami Ntuli on Monday.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has confirmed that it will support the MK Party. However, divisions within the National Freedom Party (NFP) have cast doubt on whether the motion will get the required votes for it to pass.
The sole NFP member of the legislature, Mbali Shinga, is expected to vote with the IFP, ANC and DA to dismiss the motion.

Zikalala says politics is a game of opportunity and the MK Party is taking its chances.
“The coalition government itself of the government of provincial unity has faced some of the turbulences and some weaknesses in terms of its partners being in, what you could call a blaming game, where the ANC was blaming the IFP for destabilising it in the province. In particular in the local government and of course those relations being itself very weak and of course what the DA was doing, all of that signalled that the GPU is not as solid as they would like us to believe and of course I think the MK Party noticed that, and I think it’s good of them to try and check the stability of the coalition if one can put it that way.”
