KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will be the first to take the stand at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry when it begins public hearings in Pretoria this Wednesday morning.
The commission, which retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseni Madlanga is chairing, will look into Mkhwanazi’s allegations that senior police officials, including Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, interfere with police operations and have links to criminal syndicates.
Mchunu is currently on leave of absence.
In July this year, Mkhwanazi alleged that a sophisticated criminal syndicate had infiltrated law enforcement agencies, including intelligence, the judiciary, prosecutors and other state institutions.
