Mkhwanazi says he did not install blue lights on CAT VIP vehicles

Suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi has testified that he did not install blue lights in the vehicles of attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

Evidence before the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria suggests that a memorandum of understanding between Mkhwanazi and CAT VIP, would entail the fitting of blue lights on the vehicles and the subsequent handover to the EMPD.

Mkhwanazi has told the commission that the vehicles that were donated to the EMPD by CAT VIP, were not handed over.

“I didn’t install blue lights, I didn’t brand the cars, I didn’t see the cars physically. They didn’t come to the city, even Mr. Christian didn’t see those vehicles.”
